First and foremost, Happy New Year. 20 days later. January has flown by and to be honest I'm already taking in so much I've learnt in 2017. This month for me has taught me about Ownership.
The matter of ownership was brought to my attention this month by my tutor. Although she was referring to my work, i applied it to every other aspect of my life. Ive really struggled being consistent with my blog and everything else I'm working to achieve in life, how I've branded myself online and all my other endeavours, due to life commitments and responsibilities. You know.. the whole becoming an adult thing. But nonetheless, in between all this struggle and juggling, I've lost the essence of OWNING what i set out to do and what i create. I came to a point of feeling distant from what i created for myself. But that feeling has now been demolished.
No matter how long it may take me to post, or how long it may take me to develop a project, everything i set my mind to and work on is still mine, no one else's. My first goal and lesson for the year is getting back into the swing of things and owning everything i put out, being myself, unapologetically, and over promoting, to the point of irritation. Basically becoming my number one fan, like i once was, once upon a time.
But seriously, in everything we set out to do we have to own it. No one else is going to love and believe in what we do more than ourselves. As well as what we are currently trying to achieve, our dreams can be so big and intimidating that it can sometimes make us feel like we are incapable of reaching them. But every idea and passion we possess is undoubtedly for us and we grab hold of it. Never shy away, or you might just miss a blessing. Whether or not we are fully ready to start that journey, owning our dreams is the first step.
And on that note, something i am definitely owning is this cropped bomber from Diesel. I set my eyes on it just before christmas and ever since i had been stalking the website, monitoring the jackets reductions. It is definitely a statement piece and what better way to start of my posts for 2017. My Y-3's, that were a splurgy christmas present to myself, are a perfect match for the jacket. Im really trying to create a boujie sports luxe look for myself. Its the only thing i really respond to nowadays when it comes to fashion.
Stay posted, each post will include something I've learnt or a short topic!
